The arts play a vital role in student life at The Academy. Through visual art, music, and performance, students build confidence, creativity, and voice—learning to express ideas, collaborate with others, and take creative risks in a supportive environment.
Visual Arts
Art classes meet twice each week and introduce students to art history, the seven elements of art, and the principles of design.
Working across a range of media—including pastel, watercolor, oils, and photography—students develop both technical skill and personal expression.
The Art Expo
Each spring, students participate in The Art Expo, a showcase celebrating visual and performance arts. While a submission process is part of the experience, the focus remains on participation, growth, and the joy of sharing creative work with the community.
Music & Performance
Music is woven into the student experience from age three through eighth grade through choral and instrumental instruction. Students in Band perform twice each year, building confidence through preparation and performance.
Students in grades 3–8 also participate in a full-scale spring musical, with recent productions including James and the Giant Peach, The Lion King Jr., Shrek Jr., and Willie Wonka Jr.
Student Choir
Beginning in third grade, students may participate in the ASJA Student Choir, performing at school Masses, prayer services, special events, and Homecoming.
Expression Beyond the Classroom
Seasonal performances that include the Christmas Program, Spring Program, and annual Talent Show, give students the opportunity to share their gifts, support one another, and grow in confidence through performance.
