A Well-Rounded Academic Experience
At The Academy, learning extends beyond core subjects. Specials and enrichment courses are an integral part of the academic day, supporting creativity, movement, communication, and social-emotional growth for every student.
These experiences reinforce critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence, helping students discover strengths and interests while building skills that support success across all areas of learning.
World Language: Spanish
Spanish is an integrated part of the academic program beginning in the elementary years, with students in Grades K–5 receiving instruction twice per week and Middle School students participating daily. Across all levels, instruction focuses on building vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence while emphasizing communication skills, cultural awareness, and age-appropriate language development.
Physical Education
Physical Education supports students’ physical development, teamwork, and overall well-being. Through age-appropriate activities, students build coordination, strength, and healthy habits while learning cooperation, sportsmanship, and perseverance.
Visual & Performing Arts
Art and Music are integral to the academic experience at The Academy, fostering creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Through visual arts, design, and creative problem-solving, students develop artistic skills, while music instruction builds listening ability, rhythm, vocal performance, and musical literacy. Together, these disciplines nurture critical thinking and imagination while offering joyful opportunities for personal expression.
Social-Emotional Learning
Social-emotional learning is woven into the school day through intentional instruction and community practices. Students develop skills in self-awareness, empathy, communication, and problem-solving, helping them navigate relationships, challenges, and responsibilities with confidence.
Our full-time social worker collaborates with teachers to support classroom learning and individual student needs in a proactive, developmentally appropriate way.
Technology & Coding
Beginning in Grade 5, students participate in weekly Coding instruction. This course introduces foundational skills in logic, sequencing, and problem-solving while helping students understand how technology works and how to use it responsibly and creatively.
How This Fits Together
Specials and enrichment courses support and enhance learning across all grade levels. Expectations and depth increase as students grow, preparing them for the academic rigor, independence, and responsibility of Middle School and beyond.
